Babich ‘Black Label’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Nov-2012
Marlborough fruit, 80% tank fermented and 20% fermented in old French oak to 14.5% alc. and 2.8 g/L rs. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with a pale edge. The nose is very fresh and elegantly presented with aromatic and lifted pear and white florals, the bouquet revealing notes of honeysuckle and subtle hints of nutty lees and oak elements. Dry to taste, gentle, lush flavours of pears, white stonefruits and honey are enlivened by soft, but bright acidity providing good freshness. A little alcoholic weight and a very fine textural line carry the palate flavours to a clean, soft and dry finish with light, detailed nuances. This is a soft and gently flavoured, but fresh Pinot Gris with underlying drive. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. 17.5-/20 Nov 2012 RRP On-premise only
