B.wine Lynfer Vineyard Syrah 2021, Gladstone

Syrah from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 08-Sep-2022
Deep ruby-black with a purple hue, lighter on edge. This has a dark, broody, herbaceous bouquet with penetrating aromas of plum, blackberry, unfolding minerals, charred meat, smoke, pepper and herbs. Medium-bodied, aromas of plum and blackberry entwined with dusty minerals, smoked meat, bergamot and pepper. Velvety mouthfeel made up of fine-grained tannin lends a poised structure. Mouthwatering acidity provides liveliness and vitality; and drives a long, smoky finish. This is a well-structured Syrah with excellent fruit, herb and savoury complexity. Match with smoked brisket and lamb shoulder over the next 8+ years. Handpicked, destemmed, fermentation and maceration in stainless steel for 14 days, racked to 228L French oak barrels for 12 months, unfined, unfiltered. 13% alc. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $75
