B.wine Lime Hill Vineyard Chardonnay 2020, Wairarapa

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 21-Dec-2021
Bright, pale straw yellow with a light green sheen, youthful, even colour throughout. The nose is bright, elegantly presented, greeted with softly full aromas of lemon curd, lemon sherbet, subtle notes of raw almonds and spice entwined, underlying minerals. Medium-bodied, vibrant palate filled with aromas of lemon curd and sherbet, along with a hint of zest and apricot, unfolding delicate spices, almonds and pastry. A poised line of invigorating acidity flows with good energy and refined chalky minerals, linger with creaminess to a long finish. The fruit has excellent concentration and freshness, well-balanced acidity and delicate oak details are in harmony. Creaminess added to the weight and texture. This is a refined, harmonious Chardonnay with a citrus core, balanced oak and lees elements on a mineral flow. Match with grouper with beurre blanc and seafood risotto over the next 6-8 years. Fruit from Lime Hill, Mendoza clone, handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented to 13.% alc, aged in barrels on full lees for 12 months, 20% new oak. 19/20 (95 pts) Dec 2021 RRP $56
