80% Pinot Noir from Ay and Mareuil-sur-Ay and 20% Chardonnay from Mesnil, Cramant and Chouilly, with a dosage of 4.5 g/L rs. Light golden-yellow colour, pale on rim, with moderately fine and persistent bubbles. This has a full, broad nose with plenty of Pinot Noir yellow stonefruit aromas along with aldehyde and oxidative, nutty notes well-integrated with the yeasty autolysis. Dry to taste, the palate is full, softly solid, a touch broad and flabby, showing bottle-age characters. The flavours are up-front, with a strong aldehyde and nutty, yeasty amalgam that fills the mouth, and the wine has come together showing good integration and roundness. The effervescence fades and the finish is moderate in length. A Pinot Noir expressive Champagne with plenty of aldehydic style and some bottle-age, this is mature now. 17.5+/20 Dec 2012
