Awatere River ‘Ward Block’ Marlborough Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Sep-2014
Hand-picked Abel clone Pinot Noir from a single site in Ward, given 4 hours skin contact and cool-fermented to 12.4% alc. and 6.4 g/L RS. Bright, very pale pink colour with slight purple hues. This has a delicate and refined nose of red florals with subtle, lifted strawberry confectionary fruit, and a restrained, mouthwatering, minerally core. Off-dry to taste and light-bodied, light flavours of strawberry fruit and confectionary are lifted by perfumed red florals, building to show a savoury red berry nuanced core. The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing with a slippery, near-unctuous texture, and lacy acidity enlivens the fruit lift, providing good thirst-quenching freshness. The flavours carry through to a gently rich, soft, lingering finish. This is a smooth, off-dry rosé with delicate, aromatic strawberry fruit flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years. 17.5/20 Sep 2014 RRP $23.00
