Awatere River Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Sep-2015
Light ruby-red colour with some depth, paler on rim. The nose is fresh and perfumed with tightly bound aromas of dark red cherry fruit lifted by ethereal red florals. Cooler spectrum notes of dried herbs unfold along with mineral elements. Medium-bodied and slender in proportion, the fruit flavours of bright dark cherry fruit are entwined with subtle herbal layers and savoury red floral elements. The mouthfeel is refreshing and lively, with crisp, lacy acidity providing good drive for the finely textured and structured line. The wine leads to a moderately long finish of cherry fruit and herbs. This is an elegant and refreshing Pinot Noir with aromatic cherry and herbal flavours. Serve with firm-fleshed fish and with poultry dishes over the next 4 years. Fruit from three Awatere sites, given a cold soak and fermented with a portion of whole berries and whole bunches to 12.8% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 30% new French oak barriques. 17.0+/20 Sep 2015 RRP $31.00
