Awatere River Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 31-Aug-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, pale edged. This has a tightly bound, slightly reserved nose of fresh white stonefruits entwined with subtle nutty and minerally lees elements, unfolding white florals and hints of spices and herbs. The aromatics are expressed with clarity. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours are light and delicately expressed, showing white stonefruits, white florals and hints of minerally lees detail. The fruit forms an elegant core and the mouthfeel is harmonious and smooth-textured, with integrated acidity. The wine flows seamlessly to a gently sweet, but lightly nuanced finish. This is a harmonious and seamless dryish Pinot Gris with delicate stonefruit and floral flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with white meat dishes over the next 3 years. Fruit from the Lower Dashwood, a portion given skin contact, and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 5.7 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 17.0+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $25.00
