Awatere River Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 20-Oct-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with a slight blush, light on the rim. The nose is full and softly voluminous with aromas of exotic yellow florals, rose-petal perfumes, honeysuckle and spices, melded with lifted fermentation esters, stonefruits and a hint of marzipan. The aromas build in concentration with aeration. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, soft floral, rose-petal, honied stonefruit and nutty-marzipan flavours form a soft, rounded core and line. The wine is smooth with a delicate phenolic line guiding the flow, the acidity integrated and mellow. The palate carries to an aromatic, moderately concentrated and sustained finish with floral perfumes. This is a soft-textured, smooth, aromatic, off-dry Pinot Gris with exotic floral nuances. Serve with Asian cuisine over the next 3 years. Fruit from the Lower Dashwood, Awatere and Woodbourne, Wairau valleys, a portion given skin contact and the fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.3% alc. and 5.9 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 17.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $25.00
