Awatere River Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Sep-2014
Bright straw colour with a little blush, pale on rim. The nose I very light with delicate aromas of yellow stonefruits , yellow florals, hints of red fruits, revealing nuances of spice and honeysuckle. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours are shy, with yellow florals, savoury stonefruit kernels and hints of red fruits. The mouthfeel has richness and roundness, along with a slippery flow. Some spice and honey elements are present and carried by underlying phenolic power to a long finish. This off-dry Pinot Gris is light in fruit expression but has some fruit sweetness, palate richness and drive. Match with most white meat courses over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the Lower Dashwood, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 6.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees, a small portion of the wine seeing seasoned French oak. 17.0/20 Sep 2014 RRP $25.00
