Avaniel Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2013

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 10-Jul-2015
Full, black-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on edge, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegant in proportion with fresh dark red berry fruit aromas entwined with mineral and reductive notes forming a softly concentrated core. Medium-full bodied, the palate features tightly bound flavours of ripe, vibrantly sweet, dark red berries with mineral and reductive layers. This has concentration and depth and the fruit is supported and guided by firm fine-grained tannin structure and extraction. Subtle acid vitality adds tension and energy. The wine flows with good drive and line, leading to a sweet-fruited red berry-fruited finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, sweet-fruited Ribera del Duero with youthful minerally reduction. Match with roast lamb over the next 4-5+ years. 100% Tempranillo from the ‘Los Miles’ vineyard in Ribera del Duero, from wines 6-10 y.o. fermented to 13.5% alc. 16.0+/20 Jul 2015 RRP $21.99
