Auntsfield ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Late Harvest Riesling 2016

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 22-May-2018
Bright golden-yellow colour with strong depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is full and densely packed with concentrated but rounded aromas of ripe tropical fruits, wild honey and nectar, citrus marmalade, caramelised fruits, and a layering of musky botrytis. This is fulsome and opulent. Very sweet to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate has rich and decadent flavours of tropical and citrus fruits, apricots and marmalade with wild honey and nectar integrated with musky elements, unfolding nuances of caramel. The palate has depth and presence, and is unctuous in texture, the sweetness and richness providing a full and rounded mouthfeel. There is a piquant edge of acidity that lends underlying freshness and tension, and the wine carries with plenty of drive and power to a long and sustained finish of honey and caramel. This is a very rich, luscious and unctuous botrtytised sweet Riesling with rope tropical fruit, honey and marmalade, musk and caramel notes. Serve with baked desserts, crème caramel and crème brulee over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Auntsfield’ vineyard with 80% botrytis infection, fermented in stainless-steel to 10.0% alc. and 195 g/L RS. (375 ml) 19.0-/20 May 2018 RRP $TBA
