Auntsfield ‘Cob Cottage’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2008

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Mar-2011
Made from fruit near the site of an early Cob Cottage, home of Doctor Stewart, Marlborough's first medical practitioner, whole bunch pressed and fully barrel-fermented in French barriques by native yeasts to 14.5% alc., and aged 12 months in oak. Brilliant pale straw-green yellow, youthful in appearance. This has a full, rich bouquet of mealy, nutty aromas complexed by sweet, spicy oak, the nose dense and in complete proportion. Full, rich and mouthfilling in flavour, this is packed with ripe, succulent mealy, yellow stonefruit and citrus notes, and powerful nutty oak. The wine is soft and beautifully textured, the components integrating and harmonising. The finish is sustained. A wine to match with rich pork dishes over the next 3-5 years. 18.5/20 Mar 2011 RRP $33.95
