Auntsfield Cob Cottage Chardonnay 2019, Marlborough

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 29-Sep-2022
Bright, pale yellow with a light green hue, even colour throughout. The nose is gentle and elegantly full, penetrating with aromas of pineapple, stonefruit, fine spice, warm butter and brioche. Medium-bodied, elegant and ethereal on the palate, layers of peach and pineapple, grapefruit peels, delicate oak spice, warm butter, toasted brioche unfolding chalky minerals and flint, lingering to a dusty, long finish. Chalky minerals provide a finely textured mouthfeel; sherbety, soft acidity persists and carries spice elegantly throughout the palate. Well-proportioned creamy, autolysis details enriched and refined. This elegant Chardonnay features chalky minerals and flints with well-portioned fruit and autolysis characters on an ethereal, delicate palate and a lengthy finish. Match with crayfish and chicken ballotine over the next 7+ years. Handpicked, hand-sorted, whole bunch pressed fermented in French oak barriques and aged on lees for 11 months. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $48
