Auburn Lowburn Central Otago Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 07-Feb-2011
Made by three keen Riesling nuts in the ‘new wave' Mosel Kabinett style that is increasingly popular here. The Central Otago vines were 16 y.o., with the wine ending up with 9.0% alc. and 31 g/L rs. It was very delicate and finely expressed, with limes, florals, steel and minerals, as well as a touch of honey. This needs a couple of years to show the extra layers possible in this type of wine. More richness and fullness will show, no doubt. The wine appears off-dry, a sign of the high acids and low pH, positives indeed.  Dec 2010
