Auburn Bannockburn Central Otago Riesling 2014

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 05-Dec-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues. This has a very delicate, refined and elegantly presented nose with ethereal aromas of exotic florals, jasmine, limes and tangerines, revealing apple and mouthwatering mineral complexities. Medium-sweet to taste and light-bodied, the palate is tightly concentrated with florals, citrus fruits, apples and honeysuckle flavours. The fruit follows a very fine-textured core and line, and the mouthfeel is beautifully poised with soft, subtle acidity. A suggestion of unctuousness is countered by the slippery flow, and the wine carries to an off-dry, long and lingering finish with nuances of honey. This is a beautifully refined, delicately concentrated, luscious and exotic medium Riesling with a very long line. Serve as an aperitif and with mildly spicy Asian cuisine over the next 6-8 years. Fruit from 16 y.o. vines in Bannockburn with no botrytis, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 10.0% alc. and 40 g/L RS, TA 8.5 g/L and pH 2.81. 716 bottles made. 19.0/20 Dec 2014 RRP $28.00
