Ataahua Waipara Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Nov-2012
Bright straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is elegantly proportioned and tightly concentrated with aromatic amalgam of fresh hops, herbs, white florals, limes and minerals. Medium in sweetness, bright, lively and fresh fruit flavours feature on the palate with an intriguing combination of citrus fruits, herbs, honey, a little toast and hoppy characters. Very fine in mouthfeel, fruit sweetness adds to the lusciousness, and the richness is balanced by good acidity and a fine textural line that carries through to a moderately sustained finish with attractive honied notes. This is a lively, softly lush, medium Riesling with intriguing flavours of florals, honey and herbs. Serve as an aperitif and with Chinese cuisine over the next 4+ years. Fruit from vines on lime-influenced silt loam, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 19 g/L rs. 17.5-/20 Nov 2012 RRP $22.00
