A variety of clones, including 10/5, 114 and 115, hand-picked and fully destemmed, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.9% alc., the wine spending 3 weeks on skins post fermentation and aged 14 months in 20% new French oak. Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a fresh, firmly concentrated nose of dark red berry fruits along with mineral, earth, dark herb and smoke notes. Medium-full bodied, tightly bound and concentrated flavours of dark red berries, minerals and dark earth form a deep and firm core. The fruit is underlined by fine, grainy tannins and driven somewhat by alcoholic power, the acidity restrained and discreet. The firm line carries the flavours to a lively, juicy finish lifted with some oak spiciness. This is a concentrated and firmly packed Pinot Noir with dark fruits intermixed with minerals. It will develop and soften over the next 5-6+ years. Match with roasted and grilled red meat dishes. 17.5+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $34.00
