Ataahua Waipara Gewurztraminer 2011

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Nov-2012
Fruit from the ‘Ataahua' vineyard in Church Road', hand-picked, foot-stomped and given 36 hours skin contact, and cool-fermented to 14.0% alc. and 8 g/L rs. Bright straw-yellow colour with slight lemon-gold hues, and a pale green edge. The nose is tight and penetrating with lifted aromas of rose petals and exotic florals expressed with lovely clarity. Off-dry to taste, this is an elegant wine with very smooth and a fine textured flow of concentrated flavours of musk and rose petals. This has subtle alcoholic power providing drive and line, and soft acidity enables the fruit flavours to build on the palate. The flavours and textures are seamless and lead to a very long, perfumed finish with fruit purity. This is an elegant and refined Gewurztraminer with beautiful aromatic purity. Serve with pate, rillettes and most pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. 18.5/20 Nov 2012 RRP $22.00
