Ataahua Waipara Gewurztraminer 2010

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 12-Oct-2011
Young vine fruit from the Ataahua ‘Church Road' vineyard foot-stomped and fermented in seasoned oak to 12.5% alc. and 13 g/L rs. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-gold hues, this has a softly full and broad nose of Turkish Delight, savoury florals and spices, along with some toasty, hair-oil like complexities. Medium-dry, this has rich, rounded and near lush flavours of savoury, spicy Turkish Delight with yellow florals and honey, along with nuances of herbs and minerals. Soft and gently unctuous in texture, the richness is enhanced by the low acidity, and a little varietal bitterness shows on the finish. This shows some maturity in its flavours and will be a good match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 2+ years. 17.0+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $22.00
