Ataahua Waipara Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 12-Oct-2011
Bright straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues. This has a refined nose with subtle, but intense aromas of citrus fruit, mealy, nutty oak and hints of minerals, all well-balanced and in harmony. Medium-weighted, and stylishly proportioned, the flavours of citrus fruits, mealy, nutty oak are a little understated, allowing a little alcohol heat come through. Some creaminess from the barrel-fermentation adds some richness to the mouthfeel. The palate features bright acidity providing good raciness and cut, leading to steel, flinty finish. 20 y.o. Mendoza clone fruit fully barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in seasoned French oak, with partial MLF. An elegant and reasonably sophisticated Chardonnay to match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. 17.5/20 Oct 2011 RRP $26.00
