Ata Rangi Martinborough Syrah 2010

Syrah from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 21-Oct-2014
Dark, deep, black-hearted ruby-red colour. The bouquet is concentrated, deep and robust with ripe black berry and black pepper aromas. Vibrant and energetic for sure, but some sulphide reduction typical of Syrah. This will fade. But good funky secondary undergrowth and bramble nuances too. Medium to fullish bodied, this is gutsy and up-front with bold black and dark red fruits, pepper, spices, herbs and florals. There’s earth, funk and reduction and the wine is a structural one. Interest and complexity. 13.5% alc., 11 months in 20% new oak. 18.5-/20 Oct 2014 RRP $55.95
