Ata Rangi Martinborough Pinot Noir 2005

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 30-Jun-2014
A small vintage with frost and cool weather affecting flowering, with rain as well, producing particularly concentrated wine, described wryly by Clive as ‘Pinot Amarone’. No whole clusters involved. Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour. The bouquet is very concentrated and powerfully packed, with a complex amalgam of brambly dark red berry, cherry and plum aromas, along with spices, dried herbs and a dark red floral lift. On palate, densely concentrated with black cherry and dark red berry fruits, well-ripened, with vibrant, savoury undergrowth complexities interwoven. The wine is robustly structured with strong extraction and vigorous acidity to match the depth and richness of fruit. Real palate presence and excellent length. This will keep 10+ years. 19.0-/20 Jun 2014 RRP $N/A
