Ata Rangi Martinborough Pinot Noir 1994

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 30-Jun-2014
A positive and benign growing season, especially following 1992 and 1993, but essentially showing some cooler vintage characters. Dark red colour with some garnet and brown colour, with good depth. The nose has deep and densely packed aromas of ripe dark red fruits and red floral lift, along with secondary dried herb complexities, and subtle waves of cedary oak and bottle development nuances. This appears mature now. On palate, this is elegant, quite sweet with lush and juicy red berry fruit flavours along with an iron-earth note. There is good acid brightness, in balance with the fruitiness, and an underlying fine tannin line that carries the wine to a spicy, savoury finish. This is at a peak, and the flavours suggest drinking sooner than later. There is beauty in coolness, but this has fruit of good ripeness. 18.0-/20 Jun 2014 RRP $N/A
