Ata Mara Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 27-Feb-2013
Fruit from the ‘Te Mara' vineyard fermented to 13.6% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 25% new French oak barriques. Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour with a little purple on rim. The nose is softly packed with savoury red berry and dark plum aromas along with thyme herbs, fennel and liquorice nuances and some earthy interest. Medium-full bodied, some alcohol power is prevalent, with an amalgam of dark red berry fruits, dark herbs and savoury game notes building with good intensity. The mouthfeel is balanced with soft tannins providing supple structure and tension from moderate acidity. The palate has linear drive that carries the flavours to a dry finish with savoury plum and earthy notes. This is a soft textured and savoury red fruited Pinot Noir with some alcoholic power. Match with robust duck, pork and roasted red meats over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5-/20 Mar 2013 RRP $30.00
