Astrolabe ‘Voyage’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Feb-2011
A blend of fruit from the Awatere and Wairau Valleys and the Kekerengu Coast, this was cool-fermented in stainless-steel vats to 13.5% alc. and 3.3 g/L rs. This has been the mainstay in Astrolabe's rapid success and is a keen representation of what Marlborough does so well. Pale lemon-straw yellow in colour, this has a soft, elegantly ripe nose of redcurrants, green beans and hints of passionfruit. The aromas are intense and now showing some bottle-development nuances. Dry on palate, this has excellent lifted floral and herb flavours, quite soft and gentle, a result of integration of all the components coming into balance. The acidity remains fresh and racy and carries into the finish. An excellent wine to drink over the next year with seafoods and salads. 18.0-/20 RRP $21.99 Jan 2011
