Astrolabe ‘Voyage’ Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2009

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Feb-2011
100% Gewurztraminer from the Two Ponds vineyard, Grovetown, a small proportion fermented in old oak to 14.5% alc. and 9.8 g/L rs. Brilliant straw yellow in colour, this possesses a fine, tightly bound bouquet of rose petals and cool floral aromatics which will blossom with some bottle-age. Off-dry to taste, there is some alcoholic warmth on first impression, with a firmness to the mouthfeel. The rose petal fruit is still locked up, but the potential richness is clear from the degree of concentration and oily textures. The wine will become more rounded and lush over the next 2-3 years. There is a good long finish, with a slight bitterness that is characteristic of the variety. Match with Asian food. 17.5/20 Jan 2011 RRP $23.99
