Astrolabe ‘Vineyards’ Taihoa Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Oct-2011
100% Sauvignon Blanc from Anna and Paddy Trolove's ‘Taihoa Farm' site at Kekerengu, south of the Awatere. Wild yeast fermented in seasoned barrels to 13.1% alc. and 3.0 g/L rs, the wine undergoing lees stirring. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with some depth, this has a very powerful and concentrated nose of ripe, yellow stonefruits and nectarines intermixed with subtle nutty, smoky notes from the oak, forming a complex bouquet. Dry to taste, rich and concentrated flavours of nectarines and stonefruits are harmoniously balanced with spicy, nutty oak and flinty lees work. There is an underlying power supporting the flavours and fresh, crisp acidity leads to a finish with real length. This combines concentration and power with stylishness. Match with firm fleshed seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3-4+ years. 19.0/20 Oct 2011 RRP $31.99
