Astrolabe ‘Valleys’ Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Oct-2011
Bright, pale straw-yellow with a very pale edge to the colour. The fruit aromatics are very fine and tightly concentrated, with intensity, developing layers of pungent passionfruit and minerals that gradually emerge in the glass. Dry on palate, this is very stylish and refined, with finesse to the proportions. Soft, concentrated flavours of passionfruit and minerals are packed together, with vibrant, lively acidity providing drive and excellent tension. The finish is tight, very fine-textured and very long. Fruit from the Lissaman's ‘Trelawne' and the van Asch's ‘Stafford Creek' vineyards in the Awatere Valley cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.4% alc. and 1.4 g/L rs. Serve with shellfish or poultry, and with creamy cheeses over the next 2-3 years. 18.5+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $23.99
