Astrolabe ‘Discovery’ Kekerengu Coast Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Feb-2011
The Kekerengu Coast situated south of the Awatere is a new sub-region of Marlborough. This wine is Astrolabe's expression of the character of the terroir. It will be interesting to follow how the wines show. 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Taihoa and Sleepers sites, cool-fermented in stainless-steel vats using neutral yeasts to 13.0% alc. and 1.2 g/L rs. Fullish, but pale straw-yellow in colour, this has a bouquet of sweet, ripe yellow stonefruits, citrus and capsicums, along with some savoury developmental nuances. Dry to taste, this has a soft broadness and evenness to the palate, along with a light textural presence. Ripe red capsicums and stonefruit flavours are quite gently displayed and the soft acidity allows accessibility and immediate enjoyment. Drink with all seafood, salads and Asian cuisine. 17.0+/20 Jan 2011 RRP $25.99
