Askerne Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-Nov-2015
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on edge. This has a fresh, lively and bright, aromatic nose with intense perfumes and florals, exotic yellow stonefuits and refreshing mineral notes. This is tightly bound and finely presented. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, bright and refreshing flavours of white and yellow exotic florals and stonefruits are the feature on the palate. Subtle layers of spices and honeysuckle unfold from the soft, near unctuous core. The mouthfeel is balanced by fine phenolic textures and lively acidity lending wonderful vitality and energy. This has some underlying alcoholic drive, carrying the flavours of honey and flowers to a refreshing concentrated finish of yellow stonefruits. This is a bright and lively, exotic, aromatic dryish Pinot Gris with a gentle richness and poise. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese fare over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the lower terraces of the ‘Askerne’ vineyard with ‘Pentane Station’ fruit included, tank fermented to 14.0% alc. and 7.45 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $22.00
