Askerne Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-Nov-2015
Bright, even, lemon-green hued golden-yellow colour, paler on rim. The nose is concentrated with intense and penetrating aromas of rose-petal florals, Turkish Delight and root ginger melded with tea-leaf Muscat-like elements and bitter musk. This is expressed with depth and finesse. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features solidly concentrated and packed flavours of res-petal florals, root ginger, cloves and Middle Eastern spices, and musk. This has a strong core with balanced phenolic textures and underlying alcoholic power and drive, the acidity soft and integrated. The palate has considerable energy and linearity with its depth, and carries to a strong, long, and intensely flavoured spicy and gingery finish. This is a fulsome, powerfully concentrated dry Gewurztraminer with a deep core of rose-petals, root ginger and bitter musk. Serve with Middle Eastern fare over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Askerne’ vineyard, WBP with no skin contact, fermented in tank with a portion of late-picked fruit in barrel with indigenous yeast to 14.0% alc. and 5 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $22.00
