Bright, even light golden yellow colour, a little lighter on edge. The nose is elegant in proportion with richness, concentration and depth, opening in volume to show complex aromas of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruit with mealy elements, savoury cream-nutty barrel-ferment and oak notes and nuances of flint and minerals. Medium-full bodied, the palate features gentle layers of flavour, with white and yellow stonefruits melded with mealy and nutty notes. The palate is soft-textured with subtle creamy barrel-ferment mouthfeel, underlined by a fine-textured phenolic line. The wine flows with good drive and tension, unfolding nutty oak, leading to a fine-textured, moderately long finish with mineral nuances. This is a soft-textured, complex-detailed Chardonnay with stonefruit, creamy and nutty oak and subtle mineral detail. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 5 years. Clone 15 and 95 fruit from the winery vineyard, vines 7 y.o., fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new oak with batonnage and 50% MLF. 250 cases made. 18.5-/20 Sep 2016 RRP $35.00
