Ash Ridge Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Jul-2014
Bright pale straw colour with slight green hues. The nose features an elegantly intense core of citrus fruit expressed with freshness and clarity, interwoven with spicy and aromatic oak and nutty barrel-ferment notes. Medium-bodied, light and tightly held flavours of citrus and white stonefruits show with a soft sweetness and juiciness. The palate has brightness and freshness, enhanced by the acidity. Some nutty and savoury ferment elements are present and the palate follows a textured line with underlying alcohol drive to a light finish. This is a light, fresh Chardonnay with citrussy fruit and barrel-ferment notes. Serve with antipasto and seafood over the next 2-3 years. Equal portions of clone 95 and 15, from the ‘Cardoness’ vineyard, fully barrel-fermented to 13.3% alc., the wine aged 10 months in approx. 15% new French oak equivalence, with some batonnage. 16.0/20 Jul 2014 RRP $20.00
