Ash Ridge ‘Estate’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 26-Jun-2016
Bright, even, light golden-hued yellow, a little lighter on the rim. This has a clean and fresh, uncomplicated nose of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits along with subtle nutty, flinty and lemon-curd MLF suggestions. The aromatics are steely and refreshing. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is very fresh, bright, lively and taut with fruit flavours of citrus and yellow stonefruits, revealing some richness. Brisk and mouthwatering acidity enlivens the fruit and the mouthfeel, and there is a fine, underlying linearity with some grip and texture. The wine unfolds a little nutty and flinty detail with hints of lemon-curd MLF, which carry to a light, clean, crisp finish. This is a refreshing and bright, light stonefruited Chardonnay with subtle oak detail and a crisp, dry finish. Chardonnay fruit fully barrel-fermented to 12.8% alc., with 10% by indigenous yeasts, the wine aged 10 months in 15% new French oak, undergoing batonnage and 50% MLF. 16.5+/20 Jun 2016 RRP $20.00
