Artezin Mendocino County Zinfandel 2015

Zinfandel from USA
Review Date : 02-May-2017
Very full, dark, black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter on the edge, and youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full with up-front, easy and accessible aromas of ripe blackberries, boysenberries and dark raspberries. This highlight ripeness, accessibility and opens in volume with aeration. Full-bodied, the palate has bold and accessible, sweetly luscious and juicy flavours of raspberries and blackberries, along with boysenberry notes. The palate has fresh acidity lending vibrancy, and some alcoholic power adds drive and warmth to the palate. This builds in depth, forming a positive core, with balanced, grainy tannin extraction that carries the wine to a moderately long finish. This is an up-front, accessibly juicy Zinfandel with raspberry and black fruit flavours on a vibrant palate with alcohol heat and drive and plenty of grip at the core. Match with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 4 years. A blend of 80% Zinfandel, 15% Petite Sirah and 5% Carignan from the Ukiah Valley, fermented to 14.7% alc., the wine aged predominantly in French oak. 17.5/20 May 2017 RRP $30.00
