Aronui ‘Single Vineyard’ Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 22-Oct-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with depth. This has a very full broad and brash nose with aromas of grass and nettle-infused gooseberry fruits in the cooler spectrum, showing a little bean-like secondary development. Dry to taste, bold and full flavours of nettles, grass and beans feature on the palate with depth and concentration. Some secondary flavours of beans are beginning to appear. The palate has a strong up-front line with some phenolic drive and texture, and the acidity is in balance providing good energy. The flavours fade to a lingering finish with green bean and grassy flavours. This is a full, up-front grassy Sauvignon Blanc beginning to show some bottle development. Match with salads, vegetables and Mediterranean fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. 17.0/20 Oct 2013 Bright, pale straw yellow colour with some green hues, pale on rim. This has a very light nose with restrained aromas of gooseberries, green apples, limes and nettles, along with savoury minerals, the fruit in the cooler spectrum. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this is slender in proportion with bright flavours of gooseberries, limes and a hint of passionfruit held with tightness. The mouthfeel has a textural line from some phenolics, but shows freshness from balanced acidity. There is good linear drive that leads to a long fruity finish with sappy gooseberry and minerally elements. This is a light, fresh Sauvignon Blanc with some grainy textures. Match with seafood dishes over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Elmside’ vineyard in Brightwater, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 4 g/L rs, the wine undergoing batonnage for 2 months. 16.0+/20 Mar 2013 RRP $21.95
