Aronui Nelson Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 22-Jun-2014
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light green-gold hues, lighter on rim. The nose elegant and gently expressed with rounded and seamlessly interwoven aromas of clear, fresh and bright citrus fruits along with creamy, nutty, barrel-ferment notes, delicate butterscotch MLF and flinty detail. Medium-bodied, mellow layers of citrus fruits, nutty oak, butterscotch and cream are entwined and softly presented, unfolding to reveal a rounded core. The acidity is soft, enhancing the smooth, creamy textures and flow. A fine phenolic thread guides the flavours to a soft, balanced finish with subtle toasty oak nuances. This is a softly integrated, creamy, buttery Chardonnay with mellow citrus fruit flavours. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit predominantly Mendoza clone from vines 15 y.o., hand-picked, WBP and fermented in new and seasoned French oak barriques, partially by indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage and MLF. 17.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $24.95
