Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er ‘Clos St Jacques’ 2010

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 18-Feb-2014
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red, very even in colour and very youthful. The nose combines up-front bold primary fruit aromas of dark cherries, raspberries and complex savoury herb of whole cluster, with distinctive nutty and spicy oak. The depth and intensity as well as tightness results in a sense of elegance of proportion despite the fruit volume. Beautifully rich and succulent, near opulent with boldly presented luscious dark berry and spicy plum flavours. Red fruits, nuances of spies, game, herbs all contributed detail supporting the fruit. Very fine, grainy tannin extraction frames the palate and the mouthfeel is complete, with lovely acid vitality underling the linearity. This is a bold, concentrated and fruit expressive wine with everything in its place. 12-15+ years. 19.5/20 Feb 2014 RRP $N/A
