Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er ‘Clos St Jacques’ 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 18-Feb-2014
Moderately deep, even, ruby-red with slight purple hues. This has a firm and intensely concentrated nose with youthfully raw and primary aromas of ripe, dark red berry fruits and dark plums, revealing waves of lifted violet florals, dried herbal whole cluster complexities, and significant spicing and oak toast. This has great depth. Rich and lusciously ripe, bright, primary fruit flavours of dark raspberries and black cherry fruit are lifted by florals and subtle stem and herb whole bunch nuances. The fruit is supported by very fine-grained tannins and excellent acid drive. The extract has depth and texture and will need time to resolve. The structure envelops the fruit and carries it to a firm, very refined finish marked by oak spices. An ageworthy Clos St Jacques to develop over 12-15+ years. 19.0/20 Feb 2014 RRP $N/A
