Archangel ‘Halina’ Central Otago Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Oct-2015
The first bottling of the ‘Halina’ medium-sweet style. Hand-picked GM 239 clone fruit, fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc. and 24 g/L RS. Full, bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, paler on rim. The nose is full and voluminous with good breadth of yellow florals and stonefruits, citrus fruits, honeysuckle and complexing secondary toasty development entwined with mineral detail. The aromatic retain freshness and a cutting intensity. Medium-sweet to taste and light-medium bodied, gently luscious fruit flavours of limes and white florals feature with honeysuckle and complex, toasty elements. The mouthfeel is very fine and poised with refined textures and fresh, lively acidity. This has tension and drive, and the wine leads to a long and sustained finish with gentle honey and toasty nuances. This is a gently luscious, well-balanced and poised, medium Riesling with honied and toasty complexities. Serve as an aperitif, and with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 200 cases made. 18.0+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $23.00
