Archangel Central Otago Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Mar-2018
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with some black-purple hues, lighter on the edge. The nose is elegant in proportion with finely concentrated aromas of ripe, dark-red berry fruit with hints of raspberry liqueur, along with plum notes, piquant, savoury dark herbs, unfolding subtle violet florals. Medium-full bodied, the palaste has rich and vibrant flavours of ripe, dark-red and black berried fruits, along with plums, liquorice and some dark herbal detail. The fruit forms a well-concentrated core with a fine, grainy textures and extraction. The mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, and the wine carries to a rich-fruited, sustained finish. This is a vibrant, elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with ripe dark-red and black berried fruits, and nuances of plums and liquorice on a fine, grainy structure and a lively palate. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 6-7+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 5, 777, 113, 115 and Abel, destemmed and fermented to 13.7% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 27% new French oak barriques. 18.5+/20 Mar 2018 RRP $35.00
