Archangel Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 21-Jun-2017
Dark, even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has an elegantly concentrated nose with a fine, firm v=core of dark=red berry and cherry fruit, and dark red florals, melded with notes of thyme herbs, the aromatics building in intensity with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fine in proportion with a firm and concentrated heart of dark-red cherry and berry fruit harmoniously entwined with dark herb and floral elements, along with hints of spices. The fruit is balanced by fine-grained tannin extraction lending a refined structure, and the acidity is integrated, lending gentle energy. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish. This is a finely concentrated Pinot Noir with dark cherry and berry fruit along with floral and herbal notes. Match with poultry nd pork over the next 4-5 years. Clones 5, 777, 113, 115 and Abel, hand-picked and destemmed, and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 29% new French oak barriques. 1,700 cases made. 18.0/20 Jun 2017 RRP $33.00
