Archangel Central Otago Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Oct-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The nose is full with soft, solid aromas of white and yellow stonefruits and subtle honeysuckle elements melded with flinty and minerally lees notes. This has depth and density, unfolding nuances of musk, spices and savoury reductive suggestions. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is soft and rounded with a good core and restrained flavours of yellow stonefruits entwined with complexing flint and mineral layers. The wine is soft and smooth flowing, with gentle acidity, and guided by a subtle, underlying phenolic line and alcoholic power. The palate leads to a soft, vinous finish with light stonefruit nuances. This is a soft, deep, weighty and vinous, dry Pinot Gris with restrained stonefruit and flinty flavours. Serve with Middle Eastern fare over the next 3 years. Berrysmith clone fruit, hand-picked and fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 5 g/L RS. 650 cases made. 17.0+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $25.00
