Archangel Central Otago Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Oct-2015
Clone 15 Chardonnay hand-picked, WBP and barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 25% new French oak barriques, the wine undergoing batonnage and MLF. 180 cases made. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is elegantly proportioned with soft, but well-concentrated aromas of citrus fruits and yellow stonefruits melded with creamy barrel-ferment notes and buttery MLF elements. Complexing bacony oak, lifted vanilla, nuts and flinty detail unfold in the glass, adding to the richness. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and deeply packed with flavours of ripe citrus fruits, creamy and nutty oak, lemon-curd and butterscotch. The mouthfeel is soft with mellow acidity enhancing the richness, and the wine flows smoothly to a long and complete finish with toasty notes. This is a mouthfilling and rich Chardonnay with tropical fruit and creamy, toasty flavours. Match with roasted pork over the next 4+ years. 18.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $27.00
