Aravin Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 28-Sep-2015
Even, dark ruby-red colour with a lighter edge. The bouquet is fresh and firm with bright and vibrant black cherry and dark red berry fruits lifted by violet florals and complexed by nuances of thyme herbs, spices and liquorice. The aromatics are finely concentrated and harmoniously presented. Medium-full bodied and elegantly concentrated, the palate features a deep core of black cherry and dark red berry fruits in an amalgam with lifted florals, liquorice, spices and thyme herbs. The fruit is gently sweet and has good vitality, the freshness enhanced by fine acidity. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins lending a firm line and positive structure that carries to a sustained finish of spiced cherries and liquorice. This is an elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with firm black fruits and a fine structured palate line. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 5-6 years. A blend of clones 667, 777 and 5, destemmed and fermented to 13.7% alc., the wine spending 21 days on skins, and aged 10 months in 50% each 1 y.o. and 2 y.o. French oak barrels. 18.0+/20 Sep 2015 RRP $31.00
