Aravin Central Otago Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 12-Sep-2013
Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour. The nose is full and soft with good volume of savoury dark red berry and plum aromas with an underlying herbal note integrated with game and undergrowth nuances. Medium-full bodied, a solid and deep core of earthy dark plum and berry fruits is the feature. The mouthfeel is rounded, showing some integration and the beginnings of development with open, up-front flavours of earth and dark herb intermingling with violetty florals. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannin extraction and acidity, which allows the soft, broad fruitiness to fill the palate. The flavours fade to a light, dry finish. This is a fulsome, open Pinot Noir with broad savoury dark plum flavours. Match with roasted red game meat dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5 Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Aravin’ vineyard, Alexandra, fermented to 13.5% alc, the wine spending 3 weeks on skins and aged 10 months in French oak barrels. 17.5/20 Sep 2013 RRP $32.50
