Aravin Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 03-Dec-2012
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with some purple hues. The bouquet is fulsome and concentrated with dense aromas of ripe black cherries and dark plums, with thyme herb notes and earthy nuances that emerge in the glass. Oaking is balanced. Medium-full bodied, concentrated flavours of sweetly ripe, dark, earthy cherries and plums unfold to fill the palate. The mouthfeel is softly rounded and the acidity in the background. This has substantial tannin extraction which provides serious underlying structure and fine-textured grip which carries the fruit to a moderately sustained, well-textured and flavoursome, dry finish of dark berry fruits, herbs and earth. This is a full-bodied, ripe Pinot Noir with dark berry and plummy fruit flavours and a well-structured palate. Serve with roasted pork and red meat dishes over the next 5-7 years. 50% clone 5, 35% 667 and 777 and 15% 115 Pinot Noir fruit from the ‘Aravin' vineyard in Alexandra, fully destemmed and fermented to 13.7% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 27% new French oak. 18.0+/20 Nov 2012 RRP $31.00
