Ara ‘Single Estate’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-May-2015
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on rim. The nose is softly full with up-front and accessible aromas of fresh, ripe raspberry and red berry fruits, entwined with subtle herb, liquorice and raspberry liqueur notes. Medium-bodied, the fruit is light, but sweet and juicy with flavours of dark red berries and plums, along with a little herbal detail. The fruit sweetness and supple, light tannin extraction lends approachability, which is balanced by light, refreshing, lacy acidity. This carries with good energy to a light and aromatic finish with raspberry, plum and confectionary notes. This is a lush, juicy and accessible Pinot Noir with sweet fruit aromas and flavours. Serve with pasta, pizza, poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Fruit from all areas of the ‘Ara’ singe estate, destemmed but not crushed, given a cold soak and skin contact, then fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 10% new French oak. 17.0/20 May 2015 RRP $24.95
