Ara ‘Single Estate’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 31-Jul-2012
Hand-picked and machine-harvested fruit from all areas of the Ara estate, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented with whole berries to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 10% new French oak barrels. Full, purple-hued ruby-red colour with some depth. The bouquet is softly full of dark red berry and plum fruit aromas with notes of tree tomatoes and dark herbs underneath. Medium-bodied, lush, sweetly ripe flavours of dark raspberries and plums feature on the palate. The fruit expression is very primary and up-front, but has a fullness and depth. Soft acidity allows some grainy tannins show along the palate line, leading to a dry finish with raspberry fruit notes. This is a soft, lush and near plump, fruity Pinot Noir with a dry, textured finish. Match with pasta and casseroles over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $24.99
