Ara ‘Select Blocks’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-May-2014
Pale coloured, the nose shows some secondary aromas of bean and asparagus to the ripe gooseberry and tropical fruits, the bouquet with excellent volume and density. Quite dry, tightly concentrated on palate and rounded in mouthfeel. The secondary flavours are apparent, but this has excellent weight, presence and depth, and soft minerally flavours. 18.0+/20 May 2014  RRP $25.95 Fruit from the oldest vines in Blocks I53 and N52, mostly cool-fermented with one parcel fermented relatively warm, to 13.7% alc. and <1 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees for approx. 6 months. Bright straw-yellow colour with slight lemon-green hues, light edged. The bouquet is full and voluminous with seamlessly entwined aromas of savoury gooseberries, lantana and herbs, along with some secondary bean and minerally lees elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has good density of fruit with harmoniously integrated flavours of gooseberries, herbs and green beans that gently fill the mouth with sweetness and lusciousness. The fruit is balanced by fresh, underlying acidity and a fine-textured line that carries the flavours to a sustained, herb and green stonefruited finish. This is a harmonious and softly concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with sweet fruit. Match with herb-marinated poultry and pork, and with Asian cuisine over the next 18 months – 2 years. 18.0+/20 May 2014 RRP $25.95
